Community conference to be held in December

Fri August, 21st 2020

The 9th annual HV Community Day is being turned into a two day virtual conference this year.

Huntington’s Victoria CEO Tammy Gardner said the COVID-19 pandemic would not stop the expanded event going ahead for the community on the weekend of December 5 and 6.

“While we need to switch to an online format this year we are still determined to provide a great conference where community members can come together,” she said.

“The two day format gives us more time to hear the latest exciting research news and provide as much information as possible on supports and services available to families living with Huntington’s disease.

“We are looking at this as an opportunity to utilise technology to its full effect, which will enable more people to participate, regardless of their location. The conference will include presentations and Q and As that will provide opportunities to ask questions and make comments.

“All presentations will be loaded to the HV website after they are delivered.”

As always, there will be presentations focused on the current research and on supports and services that families and people with HD can access, including the NDIS. The conference will also hear from families living with HD to gain a better understanding of the emotional, social, physical and economic impacts of the disease.

You will be pleased to know the Events Committee is working away on the agenda which will be released to the community soon for comment and feedback. We encourage you to register here for updates.

We looking forward to introducing you to the Events Committee very soon, so watch this space.
