Information and Awareness Newsletter
November Edition
This month, we explore a topic that often goes unspoken but deserves attention: grief and loss.
Grief, in its different forms, touches most of us at different points in life; whether it’s the end of a relationship, the loss of a beloved pet, or even saying goodbye to a well-loved car after years of shared memories. While grief is oftentimes associated with a loss, it can also manifest in less recognised ways, like anticipating a loss or caring for a loved one with a progressive condition. Therefore, it is essential to identify, accept and seek appropriate support to deal with grief in a way that is fitting for your situation.
Though grief can be all-consuming, it is important to know that there are tools and support available to help you navigate this journey. With the right resources, you can find ways to grieve without loosing yourself in this process.
In Tammy’s discussion with Sally and Imogen, they mention a Good Mourning podcast episode where they sit down with a member of the Huntington’s disease community. The conversation delves into anticipatory grief, the experience of living with the knowledge of a hereditary condition in the family, and what it has meant for her personally.
