Information and Awareness Newsletter – HV’s Community Spotlight Update
Join the Brain Bites Project
We are excited to bring this great initiative by the researchers from Edith Cowan University (ECU), who have developed meal box curated for individuals living with Huntington’s diseases and other brain injuries. ECU senior researcher Dr Travis Cruickshank and co-lead dietician Dr Jo Rees have come up this Brain Bites initiative to simplify the process of nutrition for individuals living with Huntington’s Disease.
This study is exploring whether a Mediterranean-style meal box, specially designed for people living with Huntington’s Disease (HD), can support healthy eating, cooking independence, and overall wellbeing. Each box is locally prepared in Victoria with fresh, locally sourced ingredients and designed to make cooking easier, enjoyable, and a chance for families to come together in the kitchen.
Participants will receive a free one-week meal box with four simple, delicious recipes, and can also take part in online chats and cooking sessions with a supportive research team. All activities are flexible and can be done from home.
This is the first study of its kind, aiming to improve future meal kits for the HD community and explore ways to make them accessible under the NDIS.
